Congratulations to our 8 selected artists! We are commissioning them to make new work for the show Pertences Aqui, opening June 26th at Julia de Burgos Cultural Arts Center. Their artwork, inspired by The House on Mango Street, will be featured in our upcoming exhibition during our 2026 Big Read Block Party. We’re excited to showcase the creativity, perspective, and expression each artist brings through themes from the book. Each artist’s unique style and artistic skills will bring new life, energy, and interpretation to the Block Party experience.

The Artist Initiative at Julia De Burgos Cultural Arts Center
Unidos por el Arte is a growing network created to uplift, amplify, and connect Latino artists across Northeast Ohio. We know that our artists carry stories, histories, and creative traditions that deserve to be seen — not just within our own walls, but across the broader cultural landscape. This initiative exists to make sure Latino artists are visible where it matters.
By joining Unidos por el Arte, you become part of a collective that highlights your work, elevates your voice, and strengthens our shared presence as Latino creatives in this region. As part of this initiative, we provide monthly e-blasts where you’ll receive early access to opportunities, open calls, partnerships, and programming — ensuring you stay connected to a network that actively invests in Latino artists.

Support for Artists
At the start of this initiative, we made a commitment to supporting Cleveland’s Latino artists. Since 2020, we've been able to provide a yearly grant titled Support for Artists: Unidos Por El Arte to our artists to aid them in their growth and artistic explorations.
