Open Call for Latina Writers: Latinas, Food, and Flash Fiction
Tell your story through microcuentos: short flash fiction exploring identity, heritage, and the Latina experience through food.
We invite Latinas (women who are Latino) living in Northeast Ohio to submit original microcuentos (100–500 words) that reflect personal, cultural, and/or generational stories connected to food.
Selected writings will be published in a bilingual anthology (English and Spanish), accompanied by original illustrations created by local Latina artists. The completed publication will also be presented as part of an exhibition in Spring of 2027 at Case Western Reserve University.
This open call is for writers at any stage of their writing career. Participants must be ages 18 & up. A stipend of $150 will be awarded to selected finalists. Submissions can be in either English or Spanish, as students from Case Western Reserve University will work to translate selected submissions during the Fall of 2026.
Writings are due May 30th, 2026.
Learn more and apply through our submission form.
